The EU’s economic war with the US and China has created very difficult conditions for the exchange of art exhibitions with non-European countries. In order to send the “10th Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius” to the US, you need to pay a non-refundable deposit of about 40,000 EUR to Lithuanian authorities.
Therefore, we will still send part of the Artist’s Book Triennial to our partners in the US, where three exhibitions will take place: in Evanston, Fredonia and Cleveland.
But since it’s not possible to do this legally with insurance, the books will have to be sent illegally, without declaring them and sending good, but not the most expensive books. Because there’s a chance that they will get lost on the way to America. I am very sorry.
So if you are afraid for your artist’s book, write to me urgently, and we will not risk your book. We will not send it to America.
I wrote all this to our partners in the US.
And I received a response:
“Dear Kestutis,
Doing illegal things -even being a convicted felon as well as convicted of sexual assault in a department store fitting room is OK these days in the US! You can even be elected President!!
Furthermore, you can attend sex parties and do illegal drugs and have sex with underage girls and be nominated for the attorney general—the ultimate legal office in the land.
So I wouldn’t worry about cheating a bit on the ridiculous tariffs and sending the books as gifts.”
After the exhibition in America, I will start to think about how I could become the president of America. I really need a new Toyota and some money for my grandchildren.
