Installing in the Clock Tower Library in Plunge

Theme: Memento Mori

Time: 14 June – 8 July 2019
Location: The Plunge Municipal Clock Tower Library, Lithuania
Opening Ceremony: 14 June 2019, at 4 p.m.

The Clock Tower was built as a small Palace by Count Zubov in 1846. It is the oldest red brick building in Plunge. The Clock Tower built “in style” of Palazzo Vecchio of Florence, Italy. The Palace  has a 12-metre clock tower with a clock in it, made by French clockmaker G. L. Amant, which can be seen from any angle. The clock in the bell tower rings every hour. In 1873, Duke Mykolas Oginskis purchased the Plunge Manor from Platon Zubov. In the park of palace in 1879 he built a new magnificent, no-renaissance style (architect Charles Lorenzo) Palace. The Clock Tower, after renovation in 2012, started serving as the premise for Plunge Municipal Public Library.

The Park

As we have been invited to show the “8th International Artist’s Books Triennial Vilnius 2018” in the Clock Tower Library in Plunge, we packed collection of artist’s books and drove our small Toyota to the North of Lithuania, to Plunge. We didn’t know how much we could show artist’s books, how will be the space and condition for the exhibit. We were ready to show as many artist’s books as will be possible for creating artist’s book space.

What we know exactly that people in the Tower Library are waiting for the “8th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2018” and are ready to help. And I have to say that we met kind intelligent people. It was really easy to communicate and to install the Exhibition in strange, like submarine with illuminators, spaces of the Clock Tower. And we did the beautiful Exhibition of artist’s books.
