On 9th of December to Vilnius arrive jury members Joseph Johannes Visser from the Netherlands, Hanne Matthiesen from Denmark and Deirdre Kelly from Italy.
In Vilnius they not only select the books for the 6th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2012, but also will give lectures at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts.
The theme of Prof. Joseph Johannes Visser is “The Geo Milev – SEPTEMVRI Project”. Short description of the theme: “An artist’s-book with the complete poem in linocut-prints & the new translations in English and Dutch by Joseph J. Visser (that is myself), and in German by Monika Goetze of ‘SEPTEMVRI’, a Poem by Geo Milev (Bulgaria, 1885 – 1925), a true modern-European philosopher, as it was executed and published in 2011 in a cooperative effort of ‘carpe plumbum’, Leipzig, Germany and ‘Atelier It Plein 19’ – Easterlittens, The Netherlands. The poem is a cry for a humane society, as a reaction against the violence used by government-forces when bringing down the September-uprising against the self-appointed fascist regime”.
The theme of Prof. Hanne Matthiesen is “Art as Communication”. Short description of the theme: “Reflections on ideas, concepts and resources. A presentation of passed, as well as ongoing works, projects and collaborations”. She also plane to make the Artist’s Book Workshop for students from Graphic department on theme: “From Recycled cardboard – to Artist’s Book”.
